- SAIIA Podcast 15: SADC Summit 2013 (part 2)
- The upcoming summit of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) on the 17 and 18 August 2013 is an annual regional meeting that brings together 15 member states.
SAIIA speaks to Ambassador Kaire Mbuende, Namibia’s former representative to the United Nations and a former Executive Secretary of SADC. We asked him:
1.What are your expectations as Malawi takes over the SADC Presidency?
2. You have said in the past that SADC needs to expedite its decision making processes. Is this still the case or has the organisation made progress in this regard?
3. SADC, the EAC and COMESA have entered into negotiations to create the Tripartite Free Trade Agreement? What is you sense of the progress made so far.
This is number 15 in a series of video interviews by the South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA). For the full list of podcasts and video interviews visit http://www.saiia.org.za/type/multimedia
